Awards in 2006

Mexico
CEMEX Mexico received the World Business Award, presented by the ICC (International Chamber of Commerce) for the Patrimonio Hoy initiative. Since 1998, this initiative organizes low-income families into self-financing cells that facilitate and expedite the typical home-building process.


Environmental Awards in 2005

Mexico
CEMEX Mexico received the Empresa Socialmente Responsable (ESR) award, presented by Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (CEMEFI).

Safety awards in 2005

Nicaragua
CEMEX Nicaragua received an award from The Consejo Nacional de Higiene y Seguridad del Trabajo.

United States
Several of our plants and facilities in the United States received recognition for exemplary safety performance.

Environmental Awards in 2004

Costa Rica
The Patarrá and Colorado plants were certified by the Bandera Ecológica program of the Ministerio del Ambiente y Energía, the country's ministry of the environment and energy.

Mexico
CEMEX Mexico received the Empresa Socialmente Responsable (ESR) award, presented by Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (CEMEFI) for excellence in corporate ethics, employee programs and workplace quality of life, community relations, and environmental performance.

CEMEX Mexico received the CEMEFI Best Practices awards in 2004 for its Congruencia, Patrimonio Hoy, and alternative raw-materials programs.

Nicaragua
Nicaragua's ministry of the environment and natural resources presented CEMEX Nicaragua with the Semper Virens award, recognizing effective processes and technologies to control pollution and protect the environment.

Panama
The Cemento Bayano plant received Clean Production awards from Panama's national environmental authority and CONEP, the national council of private enterprise, for its alternative fuels project and dust collector filter installation.

Spain
The Llimpet quarry in Minorca received the "Good Image in Quarries and Gravel Mines" prize awarded by ANEFA, the national association of aggregates producers.

United States
CEMEX Construction Materials in Houston, Texas, received the Texas Aggregate and Concrete Association's (TACA) 2004 Public Appearance Award in the category "The Most Improved Plant", recognizing improvements in plant appearance, environmental compliance, and community relations.

Venezuela
The Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the city of Caroni recognized our Guayana plant for demonstrating exemplary environmental performance.


Safety awards in 2004

Colombia
Colombia operations received the Emerald Cross from the Consejo Colombiano de Seguridad (the Colombian Safety Board) for our implementation of a global safety management system in all of our operations. The Board also certified our Caracolito plant in the category of safety processes and continuous improvement in safe operation.

Mexico
CEMEX Mexico received a National Safety Award from the National Private Transport Association for its "Drive Home Safely" program.

The Torreón plant celebrated a record three years without lost time accidents in 2004, with an event attended by plant employees, their families, and local safety and health authorities.

Nicaragua
The Consejo Nacional de Higiene y Seguridad del Trabajo awarded CEMEX Nicaragua its highest honor for the development of a health-management system.

Thailand
Our plant in the Saraburi region received an award recognizing one year without a single accident from the Welfare and Labor Protection Department of the Saraburi provincial government.

United States
Several of our plants and facilities in the United States received recognition for exemplary safety performance.

Balcones Cement Plant

  • Portland Cement Association (PCA) Safety Honor Award for no lost time accidents during the past 3-year period
  • PCA Innovative Safety Idea Award for the Brohk Machine Inside Conditioning Tower

Clinchfield Cement Plant

  • PCA Safety Excellence Award for no lost time accidents during the past 10 years
  • PCA "Million Hour Award" recognizing over a million man-hours worked without a lost time accident
  • Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) "Sentinals of Safety" Award for no lost time accidents in quarrying operations

Florida Transport Division

  • 2004 Florida Trucking Association Annual Safety Award
  • Lowest Department of Transportation accident rate among companies with one to five million commercial miles driven

Arizona Ready Mix Operations

  • "Outstanding Safety Recognition" from the Arizona Rock Products Association for reduction in lost time accidents.
